Peri-implantitis has been identified in up to 50% of surveyed communities. To decrease the prevalence of peri-implantitis, it is necessary for dental practitioners to identify factors associated with this condition, and render pro-active rather than re-active treatment to decrease the risk of peri-implantitis in our patient populations.
